Of course, with the Archos 705 WIFI you may have to swap out the Tuition in order to buy it :)

I was thinking about getting it around a year or so ago. I'm pretty happy with my 4th gen IPOD.

At one time I was using a plain old 20 dollar pair of Sonys. Right now I've got the Ipod as a dedicated audio device in my vehicle. I rarely take it out. All of the music that is on my Ipod is on my PC and Vice Versa.

the ipods defaults ones suck so i use some £20 one with line in audio but example the song Fat Lip sounds very sharp instead of heavy

Jesus Christ on rollerskates purepunk, allow me to introduce you to the master in sound quality.

http://www.sennheiserusa.com/newsite/

Fuck yeah Sennheiser. No one fucks with Sennheiser, not even Bose. I have a pair of HD-555's and when I listen to something in .FLAC quality it sounds like a goddamn live performance.

The issue wasn't your iPod, it was your shitty headphones.

You can get a pair of HD-555's for $100 on Amazon. Definitely worth it if you're an audiophile like me.

You can ask this question to anyone on an audio-related forum and get the same exact answer I'm giving you - it's your headphones. I have a second generation iPod shuffle and it sounds the exact same as it does on my Zune and on my PC.

The quality does not lie in the player, it's the way your music is ripped. 320kbps and .FLAC are going to without a doubt sound MUCH MUCH better than something ripped in 128kbps.

I personally guarantee that if you buy those headphones I suggested you will not have a single regret about spending $100 on them. Just Google around for reviews of the HD-555's and you'll see they have the best reputation of any headphones on the market.

Enhanced Aim is to hacks as Sennheiser is to music, the best.

EDIT: PM me your AIM/MSN (preferably AIM).

Good advice. That's why I had asked about Headphones before, but the rate at which your audio ripped is equally important. For example, the best headphones in the world won't make a 128kbps ripped mp3 sound great. Shoddy headphones won't show the clear sound of a higher encoded mp3 file.

Also, the higher the quality of the headphone, the more noticeable things are going to be in the way of transcoding.

On the side note - Target has Zune's on sale for like $132 or so...

I use Sennheiser, best sound quality for your money. For audio production, I use my Sennheiser HD-280 Pro's, perfect headphones, even use them for my Zen...

y helo thar (http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD555-HD-555-Audiophile-Headphones/dp/B0001FTVDQ/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1208403952&sr=8-1)

5 star: 71% (91)
4 star: 19% (25)
3 star: 6% (8)
2 star: 0% (1)
1 star: 2% (3)

I personally think the choice is obvious.

EDIT: Also note that the only bad reviews are from idiots who expect something that the HD-555's do not offer in the first place, such as noise-canceling.

Go buy a 30GB ZUNE. The old ones are cheap. I got a 30GB one for 100 bucks. Great deal.

As others noted: the KBS of the song really matters in the quality.
