Its not P2P but have you tried newsgroups?
Maybe give it a try, very secure (never get caught) and it will max out download speeds at whatever your connection can handle, I get around ~5 MB a second (700MB in less than 5 mins) on my university campus network.
On the other hand in term of content its a bit more restricted especially for music but as its so fast there are loads of 1080p media available. Also, you have to pay for a newsgroup provider.
I've been using it for 4 years now, I love it :).

Purepunk, if you are considering getting a news provider to use newsgroups you should make sure you get one with good binary retention and servers in your continent. Also, if you are worried about people watching you connection like if you are on an university network you might want to get SSL encryption to avoid possible traffic shaping.
Newsdeamon looks like a good one, good value for 110 days retention. I use Giganews, its expensive but has 200 days retention.

For full albums torrents are the way to go, for music (P2P) a good program is soul-seek http://www.slsknet.org/. It is really only for music though.

limewire IS p2p. it's a gnutella network client.
Im tired of limewire, most of em have comments and unknown album r there any good clients tht arnt like tht?
if you want a good client, get utorrent or vuze(formerly azeurus)
since bitorrent clients don't have built in search (well, not any ones that I know of) use thepiratebay to get music, or if you want I could send you a demonoid invite.
newsgroups are the shit, but you usually have to pay for access since most major ISP's no longer have binaries (road runner recently removed theirs, bastards)
EDIT: duh, we're talking about music, nvm.
EDIT: newsgroup binaries are pretty good for games and the like though
